Salt Ayre Leisure Centre
Project Overview
Ivegate were directly contracted by Lancaster City Council having been selected via a competitive tender process. This project was the first of its kind for this region and is one of the leading responses within the regions’ climate response strategy.
Ivegate were contracted to install an 85-deg. high temp retrofit heat pump system delivering 1500kW to replace existing gas boilers as part of a £6.8M wider project funded by the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS).
The challenge on this project was to keep the leisure centre operational. We designed and installed a temporary boiler plant to keep the site operational during the installation of the 8 Air Source Heat Pumps. The leisure centre remained fully operational during the whole 26-week program.
Operating as the principle contractor, overseeing multiple other trades and subcontractors directly appointed by the client, the leisure centre remained fully operational during the whole 26-week program as we helped the client to deliver a site wide glazing upgrade to the facility, a new 1.5MW PV farm, Private wire upgrade including a substation upgrade to accommodate the increased load required for the facility.
