How We Did It
Ivegate were selected via a competitive tender to lead the installation of a private wire scheme involving a 3MW Solar Farm, a 544kW/1.74MWH battery, EV chargers to support the transition of the council’s fleet to electric vehicles, ASHP and LED High mast lighting.
Ivegate will install a new substation and controls to manage and supply the depot with green renewable energy.
The Anfield Plain Depot is run by Durham County Council and this project represents one of the largest ERDF funded projects in the UK.
The solar farm will reduce the carbon emissions of the site’s buildings by replacing natural gas heating with air source heat pumps, and innovative battery storage will ensure as much solar generation will be used on site as possible.
Main office buildings will also be refurbished by Ivegate with new cladding, windows, and doors to improve energy efficiency and will have all lights replaced with light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
